The first cedar-lined CLT sauna, built with solid walls and an angled roofline that moves steam across the cabin in a continuous wave, enveloping the bench area rather than letting it rise and dissipate. Inspired by the midcentury coastal cabins of the Oregon coast.

VIM began with a straightforward wish to bring the comforting lines of midcentury modern design to the beautiful practice of sharing a sauna with friends.

Form and Material
In the Oblique, you sit directly against four inches of solid wood, with western red cedar on the surface and cross-laminated spruce at the core. That mass is what gives the heat its weight and holds it steady from the first ladle of water to the last.

The shape of the ceiling coats you in a steam that feels really cleansing. I'll put my back against the wall with my legs on the cedar, and when you pour water over the rocks you get this amazing full body effect everywhere you turn.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will I be in the sauna?
Entirely up to you. You are welcome to keep it brief, or enjoy the sauna for up to an hour. Some people settle in for the whole time while others step out to cool off and come back a few times, and both are completely normal.
Where is it?
A private space in Old West Austin. We will send you the exact address as soon as you have picked a time.
Can I bring someone?
Please do. A sauna is usually a household decision, and it is a far easier one to make once everyone has been inside it!
What if I have never used a sauna before?
All the more reason to come! Mark will walk you through how it works and you can take it at whatever pace feels comfortable.
Can I come just to see it?
Of course. Plenty of people come by just to get a close look at the cabin and the design details without joining us for a sauna session. We will text you to confirm your time, and you can tell us then which you would prefer.
