Join us for an informal session hosted by Mark Hellweg, VIM's founder. Mark will give you a short introduction to the sauna and how it's built, and then the sauna is yours to try for up to an hour.
Sitting in a high-quality sauna is often the best way to determine whether the materials and design suit what you've been looking for. These demos are designed to help you experience the craftsmanship behind the Oblique first-hand, with Mark on-site to address any questions that come up.
The session is totally yours, so feel free to hop in and out to your liking, and if you'd rather see the Oblique up close without joining us for a sauna session, that's a perfectly fine option as well, just let us know when we text you to confirm your time!

MEET THE OBLIQUE
The first cedar-lined CLT sauna, built with solid walls and an angled roofline that moves steam across the cabin in a continuous wave, enveloping the bench area rather than letting it rise and dissipate. Inspired by the midcentury coastal cabins of the Oregon coast.
DESIGN DETAILS
VIM began with a straightforward wish to bring the comforting lines of midcentury modern design to the beautiful practice of sharing a sauna with friends.
In the Oblique, you sit directly against four inches of solid wood, with western red cedar on the surface and cross-laminated spruce at the core. That mass is what gives the heat its weight and holds it steady from the first ladle of water to the last.

Entirely up to you. You are welcome to keep it brief, or enjoy the sauna for up to an hour. Some people settle in for the whole time while others step out to cool off and come back a few times, and both are completely normal.

Please do. A sauna is usually a household decision, and it is a far easier one to make once everyone has been inside it!

Of course. Plenty of people come by just to get a close look at the cabin and the design details without joining us for a sauna session. We will text you to confirm your time, and you can tell us then which you would prefer.
Reserve a session
Sessions are held at a private space in Old West Austin, and we will send you the address as soon as you have picked a time. If you are planning to sauna, bring a swimsuit or whatever you normally sauna in, along with a towel, and arrive ready to go!
